COLOUR FILM DEVELOPING AND PRINTING WORKSHOP

This two days workshop covers the basics of colour darkroom, from C-41 film developing to RA4 printing. A basic knowledge of b&w printing is recommended before enrolling on the workshop.
WHAT WE’LL DO
DAY 1:
On day 1 you’ll learn how to develop C-41 colour film. We’ll start by looking at how colour film is made and how it can be developed (temperature control, all the different baths, etc). You’ll then process your own colour film in a way that can be easily repeated at home. in a way that can be easily repeated at home.(Upon request It's possible to process your film using the Jobo CPP2).
DAY 2:
Day 2 will be all about printing.
We’ll start by looking at the equipment needed to make a C-Type print, the different ways to process colour paper and the basics of RA 4 Colour Printing (colour balance, use of filters, etc), before
moving onto a more practical phase where you will be making your own contact sheet and a 24x30cm enlargement from a colour negative of your choice.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
Please bring 1 already exposed but undeveloped roll of colour film (C41) of any format from 35mm to 120.

TUTOR
Maurizio Mariorenzi (C-41 DEVELOPING)
Maurizio was born in Rome and has a degree in Agro-Industrial Biotecnology. True lover of film photography and self taught, since 2018 he has been in charge of colour and black & white processing for “De Bernardis”, one of the oldest photography specialists in the centre of Rome.
Roberta Ridolfi (PRINTING)
Roberta was born in Rome and studied Photography at The London College of Communication before working as a freelance photographer for International magazines and clients such as The New York Times, I-D, Zeit Magazine, Stella McCartney and The British Film Institute.
She has been colour printing since 2002.
